Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral helps relieve migraines and headaches

The central nervous system is heavily influenced by the craniosacral system, consisting of the brain and the spinal column. The fluid that surrounds, protects and nourishes the brain and the spinal column is called cerebral spinal fluid. Daily movements cause the body’s muscle tissue to tighten potentially causing the restrictions around your brain and spinal column, hence prohibiting the flow the cerebral spinal fluid.

Craniosacral therapy aims to release tension in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system to relieve pain, dysfunction and improve the body’s performance. It uses a soft touch, which is generally no greater than 5 grams of pressure (about the weight of a nickel).

Benefits of Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy uses a light touch to feel for these restrictions along with gentle movements for the purpose of releasing restrictions and promoting cerebrospinal fluid to flow and nourish the brain and spinal column. Ultimately, this therapy encourages the body to self-correct or align itself naturally.

Craniosacral therapy can help the following ailments:

  • Migraines and headaches
  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Stress and tension-related disorders
  • Motor-coordination Impairments
  • Infant and childhood disorders
  • Brain and spinal cord injuries
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • TMJ syndrome
  • Scoliosis
  • Central nervous system disorders
  • ADD/ADHD, Autism and other learning disabilities
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Orthopedic problems

Preparing for Craniosacral Therapy

Every client’s body is different and will respond differently to craniosacral therapy. The number of sessions varies greatly. You may need one session or as many as three or a week.

Before you arrive for your first session, take time to think about your pain and what may be causing it.  Therefore, when we talk about your pain, I’ll be able to develop a craniosacral therapy session that will do the most for you.  The more I know about you and your body, the better I will be able to help you.

Craniosacral therapy can help you remove restrictions. Schedule a craniosacral therapy in Ashburn and live a fuller life. Contact me at 703-249-4829 and schedule an appointment.
